Indonesia, South Korea to build smart city hub in IKN for Rp115.9 billion

The two-story building is slated for completion by late 2027 and will include an AI & Robotics Lab and urban farming.

Indonesia and South Korea have started construction of the Smart City Cooperation Center (SCCC) in Ibu Kota Nusantara, East Kalimantan, with a grant worth 9.9 billion South Korean won, or about Rp115.94 billion. The groundbreaking was held on June 18, 2026, in the Core Government Center Area of Nusantara. IKN Authority head Basuki Hadimuljono said the center is intended as a venue for smart city collaboration between the two countries. Of the total funds, 5.5 billion won is allocated for the 1,098 square meter building, which will have two floors: a control room and meeting room on the first floor, and an exhibition area and AI & Robotics Lab on the second floor. The grant also covers preparation of the Smart City Masterplan and Smart Building Protocol by KICT, a Nusantara smart city forum, and a capacity-building program by University of Seoul.
