Indonesia, Singapore still haggle over green power export price

The price remains undecided even after the two countries signed 26 strategic cooperation agreements this week.

The governments of Indonesia and Singapore are still negotiating the price of cross-border green power exports, even as technical talks have moved ahead. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said price setting is in the hands of the government and that Indonesia is pursuing a scheme that delivers balanced benefits for both countries. He said agreement on tariffs is the key before electricity trade can begin. The talks follow three energy memorandums of understanding signed since last year on green power exports, green industrial park development, and carbon capture and storage. The issue was discussed during Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's official visit to Jakarta, when the two countries also signed 26 agreements in trade, investment, connectivity, digital economy, cybersecurity, and defense.
