Indonesia falls 0-3 to Korea Selatan in AVC Men's Cup 2026
The loss tightens Indonesia's path in Group B, with matches against Qatar, Thailand and Oman now pivotal.
Indonesia's men's volleyball team opened the AVC Men's Volleyball Cup 2026 with a 0-3 loss to Korea Selatan in its Group B opener in Ahmedabad, India, on Sunday. Indonesia went down 22-25, 22-25, 21-25. In the first two sets, the Red-and-White side kept the match close and even leveled the first set at 20-20, but Korea Selatan was more efficient in key moments. In the third set, Korea Selatan pulled away after leading 12-8 and controlled the match before closing it out 25-21. The result means Indonesia must work harder to keep its chances of advancing from a group that also includes Qatar, Thailand and Oman. Before the tournament, PP PBVSI chairman Imam Sudjarwo set a target of a top-four finish for Indonesia. The team is being led by Cuban interim coach Reidel Toiran, who replaced Sergio Veloso after administrative issues prevented him from entering India.
