Indonesia keeps its run alive with wins over Oman, Mozambik

Indonesia last won back-to-back in March 2024, and coach John Herdman is aiming to keep the streak going through September-October FIFA Match Day.

Indonesia closed this month’s FIFA Match Day with back-to-back victories after beating Oman 3-0 and Mozambik 1-0 in Jakarta. The match against Mozambik at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Tuesday was decided by an Ole Romeny goal. Coach John Herdman said the result provided an important lift because Indonesia had gone a long time without stringing together two straight wins. The last similar run came in March 2024, when Garuda beat Vietnam twice in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Herdman said the next challenge is to maintain the positive momentum through the international fixtures in September and October. Against Mozambik, he also pointed to the opponent’s transition play, which at times made the match chaotic, while Indonesia recorded 15 shots with three on target.
