Indonesia, France prepare Yogya film lab and Paris coproduction forum

The partnership also includes plans for long-term financing, including an endowment fund option for the national film sector.

The Ministry of Culture is working with France to strengthen Indonesia’s film ecosystem, from archiving and restoration to talent incubation and co-productions. The commitment was discussed by Culture Minister Fadli Zon when he met French Ambassador to Indonesia Fabien Penone and representatives of Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée (CNC) in Jakarta on Friday. Topics included film governance, human resources development, sustainable financing, animation, intellectual property protection, and preservation of film heritage. Indonesia is also preparing the third Indonesia-France Film Lab in November 2026 in Yogyakarta as part of JAFF Market, with screenplay workshops and mentoring from La Fémis. In December 2026, CNC will hold the first coproduction forum in Paris.
