Indonesia faces Vietnam for control of AFF Cup Group A
Garuda arrive with six points and a +7 goal difference, while Vietnam need a positive result to keep semifinal hopes alive.
Indonesia will host Vietnam in an AFF Cup 2026 Group A match at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor on Monday night in a contest that could reshape the race to the semifinals. Indonesia opened the group stage with two convincing wins, 5-1 over Kamboja and 3-0 over Timor Leste, to reach six points, score eight goals and concede only once. Vietnam, the defending champions, earlier beat Timor Leste 7-0 before drawing 0-0 with Singapore. Indonesia coach John Herdman said the match is a major chance for the Garuda squad to take control of the group. Vietnam need points to avoid falling behind in the chase for a top-four berth. The match also pits two strong Southeast Asian rivals with a relatively even head-to-head record.
