Indonesia explores Bali as host of Skateboard World Championships
World Skate President Sabatino Aracu responded positively, but no official host selection, schedule or budget has been set.
Indonesia has begun exploring the possibility of making Bali the host of the Skateboard World Championships. The idea was presented by Indonesian Olympic Committee chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari to World Skate President Sabatino Aracu during a meeting on the sidelines of the Youth Olympic Dakar in Senegal. Oktohari offered Bali on the grounds that it has many skateparks, strong tourism appeal and a skateboard community he described as growing robustly. Aracu was said to have responded positively and opened the door to holding a World Skate event in Bali. Even so, the talks remain at the exploratory stage. No formal decision has been made on the host assignment, the timing of the event or the budget needed for the competition.
