Indonesia-China mung bean, seaweed contract hits Rp350 billion
The government is also exploring processing, storage and agricultural drones to keep value-added activity from stopping at raw exports.
The value of trade contracts for mung beans and seaweed between Indonesia and China in 2026 reached US$19.59 million, or about Rp350.64 billion, with a total volume of 14,000 tons. Of that, China National Township Enterprises Co Ltd outlined trade in 7,900 tons of mung beans worth US$9.86 million and 6,100 tons of seaweed worth US$9.73 million in a meeting with Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara in Beijing on Tuesday (13/10). The figure reflects an existing trade contract, not new investment or an agreement signed at the meeting. During a working visit to China on 12-18 October 2026, the Transmigration Ministry also explored cooperation with FAMSUN Group, DJI, and Beijing Leili Marine Bioindustry Inc on drying, storage, product processing, and the use of agricultural drones in transmigration areas.
