Immigration seizes 129 used passport covers found in BSD

Officials confirmed the documents were old passports from hajj pilgrims and are now tracing how they were left outside supervision.

The Class I Special Non-TPI Tangerang Immigration Office seized 129 used Republic of Indonesia passport covers and one expired passport that were found scattered in the Halte BSD area on Jalan Letjen Sutopo, Tangerang Selatan. Tangerang Immigration Office head Hasanin said Inteldakim officers checked the site on 7 June after the discovery circulated on social media. At the scene, officers no longer found a stack of passports, but they did find two passport covers without biodata pages or contents, as well as one hajj payment receipt. After coordinating with Polsek Serpong, Immigration received the documents that had earlier been secured by police. An initial inspection showed all 129 covers no longer had biodata pages or contents. Coordination with the Tangerang Selatan Regional Office of the Ministry of Haji confirmed the documents were old passports belonging to hajj pilgrims who had already departed. An internal inquiry is now under way to determine how the documents could have escaped supervision and ended up scattered on the road.
