Ilhan Omar says federal raid forces her to leave DC home
Why it matters: Omar said agents took 17 items and she fears the search exposed her address amid ongoing death threats.
Rep. Ilhan Omar said she can no longer live in her Washington home after federal agents searched it last week, arguing the pre-dawn raid put her family at risk by exposing her address. In an interview with MS Now, the Minnesota Democrat said Homeland Security Investigations agents arrived around 6 a.m. on Oct. 12, spent about five hours inside and seized 17 items, including cellphones, notebooks and other personal belongings. Omar said more than a dozen subpoenas had also gone to relatives. Federal authorities have described the search only as part of an ongoing criminal investigation and have not publicly detailed any charges. Omar called the operation intimidating, while Donald Trump denied involvement.
