Consumer confidence slips to 117.8 as spending rises

Households devoted 73 percent of income to consumption, while savings fell to 17 percent and loan installments held at 10 percent.

Bank Indonesia's Consumer Survey showed the Consumer Confidence Index in June 2026 fell to 117.8 from 120.9 in May, but remained in optimistic territory. The decline came from the Current Economic Conditions Index, which slipped to 109.2 from 112.2, and the Consumer Expectations Index, which weakened to 126.4 from 129.7. Behind the softer index, the share of household income for consumption rose to 73.0 percent from 72.3 percent. At the same time, the savings share fell to 17.0 percent from 17.5 percent, while the debt-to-income ratio was relatively stable at 10.0 percent. BI also recorded weaker perceptions of job availability, with the index falling to 101.8. Households with spending above Rp5 juta and respondents aged 20-30 still posted the highest confidence levels.
