ICE will require officers to record vehicle stops with at least one body camera after two fatal shootings during traffic stops in Texas and Maine this month. Tom Homan, the Trump administration's border czar, said the equipment has been purchased and instructors are being trained for deployment nationwide. The move follows the July 13 killing of a Colombian driver in Biddeford, Maine, and the fatal shooting of a Mexican national in Houston six days earlier. Homan had paused most ICE vehicle stops last week for a review, but President Donald Trump ordered agents to resume them within 24 hours. The shootings triggered protests in Maine, Houston and Boston and renewed scrutiny of ICE's limited camera program, which began in 2024 in five cities.
