Jakarta’s 499th anniversary marked by Betawi ulama haul at Monas
The June 19 program also includes cleaning 4,443 mosques and 6,657 prayer rooms, visiting 137 graves and a Quran recitation closing.
The Jakarta provincial government is preparing a Haul Akbar Ulama and Habaib Betawi at the South Plaza of Monas on Friday, June 19, 2026, as part of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary celebrations. The event carries the theme of strengthening religious harmony amid diversity as Jakarta transforms into a global city. The program begins with the preparation of a Betawi Ulama and Habaib Directory Book by PPPIJ Jakarta Islamic Centre, which compiles 176 figures. In the morning, DMI DKI Jakarta will coordinate a clean-up drive for 4,443 mosques and 6,657 prayer rooms. The provincial government is also scheduling visits to Betawi ulama graves, including Guru Marzuqi in Cipinang Muara and Guru Mughni in Kuningan, along with 137 other sites visited by subdistrict and village heads. In the afternoon, a Quran recitation closing will be held at Masjid Fatahillah Balaikota before the main haul.
