Hungarian prosecutors and tax investigators raided offices housing data servers used by former Prime Minister Viktor Orban's Fidesz party on Tuesday as part of an embezzlement and misconduct investigation. A prosecutor's office spokesperson said the action was linked to suspected misuse of National Cultural Fund grants while Fidesz was in power. Authorities have charged six current and former officials over about 17 billion forints, or $53.5 million, in grants allegedly steered through a nontransparent process to artists and performers linked to Fidesz. The party accused Prime Minister Peter Magyar's Tisza party of trying to cripple its operations by seizing communications systems and databases.
