Humanoid robot ran 100 meters in 9.39 seconds in Beijing
What's new: The time was faster than Usain Bolt's 9.58-second world record set in 2009.
A humanoid robot clocked 9.39 seconds in the 100 meters at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, beating the human world record set by Usain Bolt. The machine was developed by the Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics, BBC News reported from the event in China. Bolt, an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, ran 9.58 seconds in 2009. The robot also finished ahead of two other machines, including one built by smartphone maker Honor, which the company said posted 9.32 seconds in a test run. The games opened Saturday and include boxing, football and household tasks such as folding laundry.
