House Republicans seek Nov. 18 Nvidia briefing over China spy concerns

What's new: Three committee chairs want Jensen Huang to explain contacts with Megaspeed executive Alice Huang and Nvidia's anti-espionage safeguards.

Three House Republican committee leaders asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to attend a closed-door briefing on Nov. 18 about his contacts with Alice Huang, a Megaspeed executive reportedly identified by U.S. intelligence as a Chinese asset. In a letter dated Wednesday and released Thursday, the chairs of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Select Committee on China and the House Intelligence Committee cited national security concerns over China's access to sensitive U.S. technology and information. Nvidia said its regional cloud customers receive ordinary business information, not trade secrets or material relevant to national security. The company is due to report third-quarter earnings on Nov. 17.
