Congress split Thursday on efforts to restrain President Donald Trump's military campaign against Iran, with the House approving a war powers resolution and the Senate stopping a similar measure. The House voted 214-208 to direct Trump to halt U.S. hostilities against Iran unless Congress approves them, with four Republicans joining Democrats. Hours later, the Senate voted 49-47 to block its own version. The House measure, introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, does not carry the force of law, and any binding effort would likely face a veto. The votes underscored rising unease over a war that has dragged on after a ceasefire collapsed, while Brent crude topped $100 a barrel and average U.S. gasoline prices climbed to $4.09 a gallon.
