Hormuz attacks hit 10 vessels in 3 days as oil climbs toward $95

Why it matters: Shipping incidents have doubled this month, with two seafarers missing and Gulf crude flows slipping after nearing prewar levels.

Attacks in and around the Strait of Hormuz hit at least 10 vessels from Oct. 11 to Oct. 13, the highest tempo since the US-Israel-Iran conflict began, as oil prices rose on fresh concern over Gulf supplies. West Texas Intermediate traded near $95 a barrel, while Brent had surged more than 70% this year, one report said. Maritime data cited by security firms, the International Maritime Organization and UK Maritime Trade Operations showed six attacks on Oct. 11 and four on Oct. 13. Two seafarers were reported missing and a container ship reportedly sank. Analysts said the strikes threatened a recent recovery in Gulf oil traffic, which had climbed to about 80% of prewar levels before easing again.
