Hidayat Nur Wahid highlights Palestine at MPR global forum
He said occupation of Palestine and attacks in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem are blocking global peace.
MPR RI Deputy Speaker Hidayat Nur Wahid highlighted Palestine as one of the biggest obstacles to world peace when opening the Global Dialogue Forum at Nusantara V Building, the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. At the forum themed “Strengthening Faith and Building Peace: Aligning Global Civilization from Indonesia for the World,” he said world order would not be achieved as long as repression and colonialism persist. Hidayat said the conflict and occupation of Palestinian territory, including Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, require serious attention from the international community. He also stressed that the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution provides a basis for Indonesia to continue supporting the independence of nations that remain colonized. At the same forum, Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Anis Matta attended and said the world is going through a period of civilizational transition.
