Female Sumatran tiger evacuated from trap cage in Agam

The roughly 2-year-old animal was taken to the BKSDA office in Bukittinggi for observation after a veterinarian sedated it.

The West Sumatra Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) evacuated a female Sumatran tiger from a trap cage in Jorong Palimbatan, Nagari Pasia Laweh, Palupuh district, Agam regency, on Wednesday (12/8). The evacuation began around 10:00 WIB and ended at 11:45 WIB after a veterinarian sedated the animal. BKSDA officers, TNI, Polri, Tim Patroli Anak Nagari (Pagari) and residents carried the tiger about 100 meters to a transport vehicle. The juvenile tiger, estimated to be 2-5 years old, was then taken to the BKSDA Sumbar Section I Conservation Office in Belakang Balok, Bukittinggi, for initial treatment and observation. Officials set the trap cage after the tiger killed two goats owned by Afkir Soni on Sunday (9/8), in an area near homes, SDN 10 Angge Palimbatan and SMPN 1 Palupuh.
