Live chicken prices fall to Rp15.000-Rp17.000, below HPP Rp22.000

Rising feed costs to Rp8.600-Rp9.500 per kilogram are widening losses for small farmers, Permindo says.

Perhimpunan Peternak Rakyat Mandiri Indonesia (Permindo) said the slump in live chicken prices in various production centers was not caused solely by oversupply. In the market, live bird prices are now around Rp15.000-Rp17.000 per kilogram, while production costs have reached about Rp22.000 per kilogram. The increase in feed prices to Rp8.600-Rp9.500 per kilogram has widened pressure on margins for small farmers. According to Permindo Chairman Kusnan, the situation is causing losses of around Rp5.000-Rp7.000 per kilogram, or Rp8.000-Rp10.000 per bird with an average harvest weight of 2 kilograms. Permindo said the problem is linked to governance of imported feed ingredients, liquidity pressure in the feed industry, and the weaker bargaining position of farmers in the supply chain.
