Judge reveals alleged Rp40 billion payment to Febrie
The money was allegedly handed over by Tan Kian in Singapore dollars, but the judge said pretrial review has not tested its truth.
Single-judge Richard Edwin Basoeki of the South Jakarta District Court revealed in a pretrial hearing that former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah allegedly received money equivalent to Rp40 billion from businessman Tan Kian in connection with the PT ASABRI and PT Jiwasraya corruption cases. In the ruling's considerations, the judge said investigators first obtained witness statements, documents, transaction data and communications that were deemed consistent with one another before the search was carried out. According to the judge, that sequence was sufficient as initial evidence for search, seizure and suspect designation measures. However, the judge stressed that the pretrial forum only examines whether the procedure was lawful, not whether the transfer of money actually occurred.
