Palu PPPK teacher detained over alleged abuse of 3 pupils
The 8-year-old victims are receiving psychological support, while police examine potential TPKS and KUHP charges.
A PPPK teacher in Palu, Central Sulawesi, was detained after allegedly abusing three 8-year-old elementary school girls. The case came to light when the victims, all second-grade students, talked while playing and then told their families about what had happened. A report was filed with police and is now being handled by the PPA Unit of the Palu Police. Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi called for the case to proceed through legal channels, not an out-of-court settlement. She also stressed that schools must be safe spaces for children. The victims have received support during questioning, initial psychological services and follow-up assessments for recovery. Police are examining alleged violations of Article 418 paragraph (2) letter b of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code and provisions in the TPKS law.
