Gunmen steal $4 million, 600-diamond necklace from Vienna museum

Two men stole a platinum necklace set with more than 600 diamonds from Vienna’s Museum of Applied Arts after entering as paying visitors and smashing a display case in broad daylight, police said. The piece, valued at more than $4 million, was part of a Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition and was designed for Egypt’s former royal family. Vienna police said one suspect was believed to have carried a real gun and that both fled toward Stadtpark. No one was injured. The museum reopened the exhibition on Friday without the necklace as police circulated security images and opened an international manhunt.
