Gunfire hit US consulate in Toronto for 2nd time in 4 months

What's new: Police found one shell casing and facade damage, and are hunting suspects seen fleeing in a white sedan.

A shot was fired outside the US consulate in downtown Toronto early Sunday, damaging the building's facade but injuring no one, in the second shooting at the site this year. Toronto police said officers responding around 4:45 a.m. found evidence a weapon had been fired and recovered one shell casing near the consulate on University Avenue. A white sedan was seen leaving the area. The investigation involves the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and international law enforcement partners. The March 10 shooting at the same building was later tied by police to a wider gun-for-hire network. Several suspects, ages 18 and 19, were arrested after June raids connected to that case.
