Greenpeace hangs 2 protest banners at Bundaran HI, then removed
Timed to the Prabowo-Gibran administration's second year, the action highlighted climate crisis pressures and rising living costs.
Greenpeace Indonesia unfurled two giant banners at the Selamat Datang Monument in Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday morning before police and firefighters took them down around 08.00 WIB. The front-side banner read, “Address the Climate Crisis, Lower the Cost of Living,” while the back read, “Disasters Are Getting Worse, Life Is Getting Harder, What Is the Government Doing?”. The action was held to coincide with two years of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said such actions should be respected in a democracy, but asked that they not disrupt public order in Jakarta.
