Greece charges Gaza asylum seeker, 37, in Hamas bomb plot case
What's next: Prosecutors are examining links to four suspects held in Cyprus and whether the case involved plans for an attack in Crete.
Greek authorities charged a 37-year-old Palestinian man with terrorism offenses after his arrest on Crete in an investigation tied to Hamas and a parallel case in Cyprus. Investigators allege the man, who arrived from Gaza about a year ago and had been granted asylum, ordered materials online that could be used to make explosives and received training for terrorist purposes. Police searched locations in Crete and Athens, seizing mobile phones, bank cards, a laptop and a precision scale. He is due to answer the charges before a prosecutor on Thursday. Authorities are also examining whether he trained outside Europe, possibly in Malaysia, and whether he was connected to four Palestinian suspects detained in Cyprus in late May.
