Government to cover treatment of abuse victim held 3 years in Bandung

RSHS Bandung has formed a surgical, plastic surgery and eye team; the victim will undergo staged operations and facial reconstruction.

The government will cover all medical costs for Yuvita Tri Rezeki, 29, a woman who was allegedly held captive and abused by her boyfriend for about three years in Bandung Regency, West Java. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said Yuvita is now receiving intensive care at RS Hasan Sadikin Bandung and will be treated through the reconstruction stage. West Java Health Office head Raden Vini Adiani Dewi said the hospital has formed a special team involving surgery, plastic surgery and eye specialists. Treatment cannot be done at once because the victim needs a series of staged operations. The Health Ministry is also coordinating with the Ministry of PPPA and local governments on medical, psychological, social and economic recovery. Police are still hunting for Taufik Hidayat, the man suspected of being the attacker.
