Government prepares Pertalite limits for deciles 9-10
Distribution remains unchanged for now, but DTSEN accuracy is targeted to improve next year after nearly Rp7 trillion in budget support.
The government is preparing a system to restrict subsidized Pertalite fuel for households in deciles 9 and 10 while improving the Data Tunggal Sosial dan Ekonomi Nasional (DTSEN). Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said DTSEN data is still being refined so targeting can be more accurate, with nearly Rp7 trillion in budget support for Badan Pusat Statistik for an economic census and data updates. He expects DTSEN quality to improve next year. For now, the restriction policy is still under discussion, so Pertalite distribution continues as usual. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said current rules remain 200 liters per day for buses and trucks, and 50 liters per day for four-wheel vehicles. Badan Pusat Statistik stressed that deciles are rankings of relative welfare based on many social and economic indicators, not just income.
