Government needs a month to clear Hotel Sultan after seizure

The government is still emptying the Hotel Sultan asset in Jakarta and expects the process to take about a month after the takeover on June 18, 2026. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the area will then be turned over to be remanaged with Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara). In a hearing at the House of Representatives, Prasetyo said the government has coordinated several times with Danantara to redesign the Hotel Sultan complex and surrounding area so it can be put to more optimal use and increase state revenue. He also pointed to the end of the Jakarta Convention Center contract, which the government said also boosted PNBP. Prasetyo stressed that the takeover came after a series of legal proceedings that found Hotel Sultan to be state property and determined that the third-party management period had ended.
