Government delays Rp5 million electric bike incentive by one month
The scheme, originally targeted to start in June 2026, is still under review, with a goal of 100,000 electric bikes this year.
The government has delayed distribution of incentives for electric motorcycle purchases by one month, even though the program was originally targeted to start in June 2026. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the incentive scheme is still being reviewed before launch. Earlier, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government was preparing electric vehicle incentives for 100,000 electric cars and 100,000 electric motorcycles in 2026. For electric motorcycles, the incentive is expected to be Rp5 million per unit. The government said the aid could reduce fuel imports amid global oil prices that still have the potential to remain high, while speeding adoption of cleaner vehicles.
