Goldman Sachs tops $1 trillion in 2026 M&A volume by midyear
What's new: Global deal volume has already passed $2.6 trillion this year, helped by AI-driven consolidation and a lighter US regulatory backdrop.
Goldman Sachs has handled more than $1 trillion in announced mergers and acquisitions so far in 2026, putting the bank at a record pace for any investment bank in a half-year, according to Dealogic data cited by the firm. The tally was boosted by Goldman’s role as lead left underwriter on SpaceX’s initial public offering and by its advisory work on Dominion Energy’s $66.8 billion sale to NextEra Energy. Goldman kept the top spot in global M&A advisory rankings, ahead of JPMorgan Chase. The bank’s investment banking fees rose 48% from a year earlier to $2.84 billion in the first quarter, while its shares are up about 24% this year.
