Gibran promises Asmat hospital upgrade to Type C

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka promised to upgrade RSUD Perpetua H. Safanpo in Asmat Regency, South Papua, to a Type C hospital during a visit to Agats District on Sunday, June 21. He said the health-sector intervention was part of President Prabowo Subianto's priority program to expand basic services in 3T areas. During the visit, Gibran inspected hospital facilities and spoke with patients. RSUD Perpetua H. Safanpo director Yenny Yokung Yong said the upgrade from Type D was expected to speed up the addition of important equipment, including a CT scan. She said the move could reduce the need to refer patients outside the region to places such as Jayapura, Merauke and Makassar, which has long burdened financing through special autonomy funds for Orang Asli Papua, especially residents of Asmat.
