Gibran urges students, teachers to master AI for learning

The government says UNESCO’s AI governance readiness assessment is complete, helping map the national ecosystem and gaps.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged students, teachers and parents in Indonesia to master artificial intelligence, or AI, so they do not fall behind in the digital transformation. In a video posted on social media on Tuesday, he said AI should be used to speed up learning, find data, understand foreign languages and simplify formulas, not replace human reasoning. Gibran also asked teachers to use AI to cut administrative work, such as preparing test questions and lesson materials, so they have more time to help shape students' character. He warned of hoaxes, plagiarism and privacy violations if the technology is used without ethics. According to Gibran, Indonesia has also completed UNESCO's Readiness Assessment Methodology to measure national AI governance readiness.
