George Santos threatened NPR reporter after Kalshi trades story

What's new: Santos denied making the remark by text after the call, while NPR reported federal probes into his prediction-market trading.

Former U.S. Rep. George Santos threatened an NPR reporter after the outlet published a story on investigations into his trading on prediction market site Kalshi. NPR said Santos, calling from a blocked number, told reporter Stephen Fowler, “This story is going to get you a gun in your face,” after disputing the article. Fowler wrote that Santos later texted a denial, claiming he had instead said the story would “blow up in your face.” NPR’s original report said the Justice Department and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission were investigating trades tied to whether Santos would attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address in February, after Kalshi referred the matter to federal authorities.
