M5.7 quake shakes Tutuyan, North Sulawesi, no tsunami

BMKG placed the epicenter 124 km southeast of Tutuyan at a depth of 10 km, with shaking felt at III-IV MMI in several areas.

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook Tutuyan, Bolaang Mongondow Timur Regency, North Sulawesi, on Sunday at 01.56 WIB. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, or BMKG, said the quake had no tsunami potential. BMKG said the epicenter was 124 kilometers southeast of Tutuyan at 0.26 degrees south latitude and 125.07 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The shaking was felt in Nuangan and Motongkad in Bolaang Mongondow Timur, as well as Pinolosian Timur in Bolaang Mongondow Selatan, at intensity III-IV MMI. As of 02.15 WIB, BMKG had not recorded any aftershocks, but residents were urged to remain alert for possible further tremors.
