Fuel Distribution in Sumut Disrupted, Bobby Sets 2-Day Deadline

The provincial government is preparing help from TNI and Polri as the disruption stems from fewer truck drivers after mass layoffs.

North Sumatera Governor Bobby Nasution gave PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumatera Bagian Utara two days to normalize fuel distribution, which has caused shortages at several gas stations. He said fuel stock at the depot remains secure; the main problem lies in deliveries from the depot to the gas stations. According to Pertamina's explanation, distribution has slowed because the number of truck drivers has dropped after mass layoffs, leaving the fleet unable to operate normally. The North Sumatera provincial government is now coordinating with TNI and Polri to prepare personnel who can assist with driving and guarding the convoy if needed. The coordination meeting was held at the North Sumatera governor's office in Medan on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
