Four more villagers rescued from flooded Laos cave; 2 still missing
Rescuers in Laos pulled four more villagers from a flooded cave after 10 days, a day after saving another man, while two remain missing.
Rescue teams in Laos on Saturday brought four more villagers out of a flooded cave in Xaysomboun province, leaving two men still missing after the group was trapped for 10 days. The operation followed the rescue of one man a day earlier. The villagers had entered the cave to search for valuable minerals before flash flooding blocked the exit on May 20. Five survivors were found alive on Wednesday. Photos and video shared by Lao and Thai rescue groups showed the men on stretchers, wearing oxygen masks and wrapped in foil blankets. Rescuers said water levels had dropped enough for the men to leave with divers, while teams prepared to search deeper into the heavily flooded cave for the remaining two.
