Former Thai MP kills Nonthaburi official in shooting over debt

What's new: Police said the victim's driver was wounded, and the prime minister ordered full legal action against the ex-lawmaker.

Former Thai lawmaker Chalong Riewrang shot and killed Thongchai Yenprasert, head of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, at a local government office outside Bangkok on Monday, police said. Authorities said the attack stemmed from a personal dispute over borrowed money. Thongchai, a retired police colonel, was shot in the neck and later died at Phra Nang Klao Hospital. His driver was shot in the arm and underwent surgery. BBC reported Chalong also called into a YouTube livestream after the shooting to tell host Anchalee Paireerak what he had done. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul criticized the suspect's treatment in custody and said authorities would pursue full legal action.
