Fireworks truck fire shuts I-75 in Tennessee, sets off blasts
What's new: No injuries were reported, but both directions near Ooltewah closed as crews fought the fire and cleared the trailer.
A trailer loaded with fireworks caught fire on Interstate 75 near the Ooltewah exit in Tennessee on June 6, sending pyrotechnics into the air and forcing a temporary shutdown in both directions. Video from the Chattanooga Fire Department showed fireworks exploding across the highway as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department led the response, with Chattanooga crews assisting under a mutual aid agreement. Officials said the trailer was full of fireworks and all of them ignited after the fire started, creating a hazard for drivers. No injuries were reported. Southbound lanes reopened first, while northbound traffic stayed closed longer as crews checked for hot spots and removed the burned trailer.
