Jakarta Timur firefighter Andriyono died while responding to a fire in an open field piled with trash on Jalan Penggilingan Baru 1, Kelurahan Dukuh, Kramat Jati, Jakarta Timur. The fire, which spread across about 6.000 meter persegi, started Saturday morning and was still in the cooling stage on Sunday. At the scene, thick smoke briefly blew toward the firefighters. DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat chief Bayu Megantara said Andriyono, the head of the Cepu Group team in Sector Cipayung, suddenly complained of chest pain while connecting a hose. A colleague took him to Rumah Sakit Harapan Bunda in Pasar Rebo, but he was pronounced dead at 13.30 WIB. The department also said he had a history of heart disease. Firefighters were still clearing the trash as an underground hot spot continued to emit smoke.
