FIFA opened disciplinary cases against the Argentine Football Association and several Argentina players over incidents during the 2026 World Cup, including a postgame melee after the final and a Falklands banner displayed after the semifinal against England in Atlanta. Argentina lost the final 1-0 to Spain on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, and clashes broke out on the field during Spain's celebrations. Leandro Paredes faces three assault counts, Nahuel Molina faces two assault counts plus an unsporting charge, Roberto Ayala faces one assault count, and Thiago Almada faces an unsporting charge. Spain midfielder Gavi is also under review. FIFA also cited discriminatory chants, late kickoffs, security breaches and objects thrown by fans.
