Fernandes stays Man United captain after talks with Carrick
What's next: Manchester United head to Chelsea on Saturday on an eight-match winless run.
Bruno Fernandes will remain Manchester United's captain after talks this week with Michael Carrick, following the midfielder's criticism of the team's tactics after a 4-1 Champions League loss to Como. Fernandes was then left out of the lineup for Sunday's 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth, with Harry Maguire wearing the armband. Carrick said there was "no decision to be made" over the captaincy and described Fernandes as an important player who remains committed to improving the team. United travel to Chelsea on Saturday amid their worst run since 2015-16, having gone eight matches without a win.
