FDA keeps Taylor Farms lettuce warning after false-positive test reversal

The Food and Drug Administration reversed a positive test result on one sample of Taylor Farms de Mexico iceberg lettuce, calling it a false positive, but kept its broader warning that shredded iceberg lettuce from central Mexico is linked to a multistate cyclospora outbreak. The agency said its traceback work and outbreak data still point to Taylor Farms-supplied lettuce as the likely source of more than 1,600 illnesses. At least 94 people have been hospitalized, with no deaths reported. Taylor Farms has removed iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market, while Taco Bell said it finished pulling affected lettuce from restaurants in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.
