FDA keeps Taylor Farms at center of 1,645-case parasite outbreak

The FDA said Monday it still considers lettuce from Taylor Farms the leading source of a multistate cyclospora outbreak, even after withdrawing a positive lab result it had posted over the weekend. Federal officials said a rapid screening test incorrectly flagged a lettuce sample from Taylor Farms, and a quality-control review later found the result was a false positive. Still, the agency said its traceback investigation and outbreak data continue to point to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms facilities in central Mexico. The outbreak was first linked to lettuce served at Taco Bell in five states. Taylor Farms on Saturday recalled 25 shredded lettuce and salad mix products sold under eight brand codes. In 2026, cyclospora has sickened at least 1,645 people in the United States and hospitalized 141.
