Family of Mississippi teen Nolan Wells presses for death probe

The family of Nolan Xavier Wells, an 18-year-old Mississippi college football player found dead after a July 4 boat trip, is pushing for a fuller investigation into how he died. Wells went to Horn Island with friends but did not return with them, and his body was recovered off the island on July 6 after a multiday search. Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said investigators have not found evidence of foul play so far, but the office asked anyone who was on or near the island to provide unedited photos or video. The family, represented by Ben Crump, said witness accounts have conflicted and raised questions about why Wells was left behind. An official autopsy was completed earlier this week, and the family has requested an independent one.
