Indonesia’s pair won 21-19, 21-17 over Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae, ensuring Merah Putih left Tokyo with a title.
Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri captured the Japan Open 2026 men’s doubles title after beating South Korea’s Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae 21-19, 21-17 in the final at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo on Sunday. The victory over the world No. 1 pair capped a strong run for Fajar/Fikri after they reached the final a day earlier by eliminating home favorites Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. In the first game, Fajar/Fikri trailed 8-10 before turning the match around to lead 19-16 and close it out 21-19. In the second game, they led 11-8 at the interval, were caught at 17-17, then won four straight points to secure the BWF Super 750 title. The result also ensured Indonesia did not leave the Tokyo tournament empty-handed.
