Explosive drone found at German cargo hub as plane suffers midair hit

German authorities defused an explosive-laden drone at Leipzig/Halle Airport after closing both runways overnight and diverting several flights, while a second unidentified object apparently struck a freight plane that later landed with minor damage in Hanover. Police and prosecutors said an airport worker found the drone near the south runway and a bomb-disposal robot removed its detonator. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt called it a new threat scenario and a hybrid attack. The airport is a major cargo and military logistics hub used by DHL, NATO allies and Ukraine's Antonov Airlines. German media later reported, citing a confidential police report, that a nearby Ukrainian aircraft was carrying ammunition and that the explosive device was of high military grade.
