Evette, Wilson reach South Carolina GOP governor runoff
What's next: The June 23 runoff winner will face Democrat Jermaine Johnson, while Lindsey Graham secured the GOP Senate nod for November.
South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson advanced Tuesday to a June 23 runoff in the Republican primary for governor, knocking out U.S. Reps. Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman. Evette entered the race with President Donald Trump’s backing, while Mace tried to balance her support for Trump with her vote to release files tied to Jeffrey Epstein. The runoff winner will face Democratic state Rep. Jermaine Johnson in November, according to ABC News projections. In the state’s Senate primary, incumbent Lindsey Graham won the Republican nomination and will face Democrat Annie Andrews, a pediatrician who previously ran for the 1st Congressional District in 2022.
