2026 World Cup fever seen lifting UMKM sales in RI

Food vendors, cafes, screen printers and merchandise sellers could see a sales surge during the 104 matches.

2026 World Cup fever is expected to drive money turnover for UMKM in Indonesia, especially in the food, cafe, restaurant, screen-printing and merchandise sectors. In Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said the tournament craze could move small business activity through crowded watch parties. In Kupang, economist Rolland E. Fanggidae of Universitas Nusa Cendana said shifts in consumption patterns during late-night matches could boost sales of snacks and drinks. He also pointed to opportunities for local creative industries producing jerseys, T-shirts, accessories and team-themed trinkets. The 2026 World Cup runs June 11-July 19 in the United States, Mexico and Canada, with 48 nations and 104 matches.
